Tom Curren

Surfing runs in the Curren family. Son of big-wave legend and shaper Pat Curren, Tom would follow in his father's surfing footsteps and ultimately make a name for himself. Tom would become a three-time World Champion as well as winning 33 championship events, but his greatest contributions to surfing are his style and approach to riding waves, and his interest in pushing the levels of innovation. 

“Al had a really good team and he was especially with the up and coming grommets so there was always a good relationship with the kids. He would have a practice. Some of the kids would go up to contests. We would have a barbecue every week and it was very- anybody who was in that group. It was a very large group compared to other shapers.
