ABOUT THE BOARD
An original with true Santa Barbara heritage, this redwood belly board was commissioned in 1917 by Gardiner Greene Hammond to ride the waves in front of his family estate, which is how it got its name. The Bonnymede luxury estate occupied 7 ½ acres of Montecito oceanfront and was purchased by the Hammond family in 1912. The property overlooks one of the most quality waves in Santa Barbara, the break now known as “Hammonds,” with this board as early proof of how irresistible the pristine right-hander was from the beginning.
